Northeast

Located within the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Northeast is a neighbourhood within Mississauga, Ontario.

Transportation

Moving around by car is very easy in Northeast. The street layout is rather appropriate for getting around by car, and it is a short drive to the nearest highway, such as Highway 409, from any location in Northeast. With many rapid transit stations with access to the Meadowvale Express, and approximately 20 nearby bus lines, the public transit network in this part of the city is moderately practical. Although a few bicycling-friendly sectors exist, and it is a flat ride to most locations, this neighbourhood is not especially conducive to bicycling because there are few bike lanes. Traveling on foot in Northeast is also not very popular, even though many daily needs are easy to carry out without a vehicle.

Services

Parents and their children will value the proximity to schools and daycares, which are within a short distance from the majority of properties for sale in Northeast. At the secondary level, there are both public and private schools. Concerning eating, it is easy to get to the nearest supermarket without a vehicle in Northeast. Likewise, those who like to dine in restaurants will have a fair number of choices, for instance on Eglinton Avenue, and a small selection of coffee shops is available as well.

Character

Northeast offers a very good selection of green spaces to enjoy. There are around 30 parks close by for residents to relax in, including Philip Pocock Secondary (9-12) (Cs) and Not to Be Named (P-246) *(East of Tomken Rd Between Ambler Dr and Eastgate Pkwy), which results in them being very easy to get to from a lot of locations within Northeast. Lastly, this neighbourhood remains relatively quiet, as there are few pedestrians, although there can be higher levels of noise for those who are around one of the railway lines, the airport (Tarten Heliport), Highway 403 or Highway 409.

Housing

Around one third of dwellings are large apartment buildings, making it easy to find apartments in Northeast, and the remaining dwellings are mainly single detached homes. Roughly one quarter of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed in the 1980s, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1990s. This part of the city has a good selection of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. The population residing in this neighbourhood is evenly split between renters and owners.
