Transportation

Cars are a great transportation option in this neighbourhood. It is very convenient to park, and nearby highways, such as Queen Elizabeth Way, are very easy to reach from any home in Mineola. On the other hand, the public transit system in Mineola is somewhat poor. Nonetheless, there is the Port Credit on the Lakeshore West. Property owners benefit from a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most residences. There aren't many pedestrians out on the streets of Mineola, although many common errands can be run without the use of a car. This neighbourhood is also not particularly bike-friendly because there are a fair number of elevation changes, and Mineola is home to a rather poor cycling infrastructure.

Services

Parents and their children will find that no matter where their property is located in Mineola, schools and daycares are nearby. Residents can choose between public and private elementary schools. With respect to eating, a fraction of home buyers in Mineola may be able to reach the closest supermarket on foot, while others will have to rely on another means of transportation. Residents benefit from a few restaurants and coffee shops as well.

Character

Mineola is a fairly good neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a slower-paced ambience. This part of Mississauga is reasonably quiet, as the streets tend to be quite peaceful - however noise can be problematic near the railway line or Queen Elizabeth Way. Finally, there are approximately 20 parks close by for residents to relax in, such as Port Credit Secondary (Ps) and Not to Be Named * (Between Knareswood Dr and Pine Tree Cres), and they are very well-spread out, making them very easy to get to.

Housing

About 40% of homes in Mineola were built pre-1960, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 2000s. The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of this neighbourhood is an important part of its character. About 90% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 10% are rented. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
