College Park

Situated within the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, College Park is a neighbourhood in Oakville, Ontario.

Transportation

College Park is very car friendly. Many houses for sale are a rather short car ride from the nearest highway, and it is convenient to park. However, commuting by transit can be challenging in College Park as a result of the low service level. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most homes. It is easy to get around by bike in this area since the bicycling infrastructure is quite extensive. On the other hand, walking in College Park is not very common, although many common errands can be run without the use of a car.

Services

In all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is needed to purchase groceries. Nonetheless, it is generally a short distance to the nearest pharmacy, which can provide some basic food items. There are also a limited number of options for those who appreciate restaurants and cafes within walking distance. As far as education is concerned, families will appreciate that no matter where their house is located in College Park, both primary and secondary schools are nearby. Residents benefit from public and private elementary schools. On the other hand, it can be difficult to get to daycares as a pedestrian.

Character

College Park is a good neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a slower-paced atmosphere. Public green spaces, such as Morrison-Wedgewood Channel West - 2 and White Oaks Secondary School South Campus, are very well-situated and there are about 40 of them nearby for residents to unwind in, which makes it very easy to access them. This area is also reasonably good for those who enjoy a quiet atmosphere, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue.

Housing

In College Park, about 45% of dwellings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings make up most of the remaining housing stock. This neighbourhood offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. About two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood own their home while renters make up the remainder. Roughly half of properties in this part of Oakville were built between 1960 and 1980, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s.
