Rideau Heights is a neighbourhood within Kingston, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Kingston metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is an excellent means of transportation in this neighbourhood. Finding a parking spot is easy, and it is a rather short car ride to the closest highway from anywhere in this neighbourhood. On the other hand, getting around by transit can be at times challenging in this part of Kingston as a result of the low service level. Nonetheless, there are about 10 bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and bus stops are usually nearby. Rideau Heights is not especially well-suited for those who travel by foot since few daily errands can be run without the use of a car. However, this part of the city is bike-friendly.

Services

It is very easy to reach the closest grocery store on foot from anywhere in Rideau Heights. Residents benefit from approximately 10 restaurants and cafes as well. In terms of education, it is a rather short walk to get to daycares and primary schools from most properties for sale in this area. On the other hand, there are no high schools in Rideau Heights.

Character

Rideau Heights offers a calm atmosphere and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. There are a few green spaces close by for residents to visit, such as Belle Island - Cataraqui Park and Shannon Park, and they are very well-spread out, making it easy to access them. This neighbourhood is quiet overall, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case around the railway line.

Housing

Large apartment buildings are the predominant housing type, representing roughly one quarter of dwellings in Rideau Heights, and the rest are mainly small apartment buildings, single detached homes, and townhouses. About 45% of homes in this neighbourhood were built between 1960 and 1980, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This area has a good selection of housing sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Around 70% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters and 30% are occupied by owners.
