Westmeria

The neighbourhood of Westmeria is part of the city of Hamilton, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area.

Transportation

Westmeria is an extraordinarily good part of Hamilton for getting around by car. It is convenient to come across a place to park, and most properties for sale are a rather short drive from the nearest highway. However, the public transit system in Westmeria is not very convenient. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and it is very convenient to get to a nearby bus stop from most properties. It is at times difficult to move around by bike in this area because there are a good number of hills for cyclists to brave, and the bicycling network is rather limited. Travelling on foot is also not particularly practical for house buyers in this neighbourhood because few day-to-day needs can be carried out by walking.

Services

Both primary and secondary schools are straightforward to get to on foot from most properties for sale in Westmeria. However, daycares are not particularly plentiful and thus not always within walking distance. Regarding food, reaching the closest grocery store on foot is practical for some, but not all, house buyers in Westmeria. Conversely, residents won't have to go far to take advantage of the nearest cafe, and a limited number of restaurants are available in Westmeria as well.

Character

Westmeria is a wonderful neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced environment. Most areas in this part of Hamilton are especially quiet, as the streets are generally very tranquil. Lastly, most locations within the neighbourhood have good access to green spaces, such as Sherwood Park, since there are a few of them nearby for residents to check out.

Housing

Roughly 55% of dwellings are single detached homes, making it easy to find detached homes in Westmeria, while duplexes are also present in the housing stock. This part of Hamilton experienced its most significant construction boom in the 1980s, so most of the available housing is from this time period. There is a higher proportion of three bedroom homes in this area. Nearly 95% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 5% are renters.
