Westmeria

Part of the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area, Westmeria is a neighbourhood within Hamilton, Ontario.

Transportation

Cars are a great transportation option in Westmeria. It is easy to park, and the majority of houses for sale are a reasonably short drive from the nearest highway. On the other hand, public transit riders may have limited options in this part of Hamilton by reason of the low service level. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and it is very easy to find a nearby bus stop from most properties. Westmeria is not especially convenient for walking since meeting day-to-day needs is sometimes difficult. Westmeria is also not particularly suited for cycling because there are a good number of hills for cyclists to brave, and the bicycling infrastructure is not very well-developed.

Services

Families will welcome that wherever their house is located in this neighbourhood, both primary and secondary schools are nearby. In contrast, it can be challenging to access daycares on foot. In terms of food, some, but not all, property owners in this neighbourhood will live within walking distance of the nearest grocery store. A limited number of restaurants and cafes are available as well.

Character

The character of Westmeria is exemplified by its relaxed environment. Accessing public green spaces, including Sherwood Park, is easy from a large number of locations within the neighbourhood since there are a few of them close by for residents to visit. This area is very quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing around 55% of buildings in Westmeria, but duplexes are also present in the housing stock. Notably, this part of Hamilton is good for those looking for three bedroom homes. Nearly 95% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas the remainder are renters. Most of the housing growth in this part of the city happened in the 1980s.
