Summit

The neighbourhood of Summit is part of the city of Hamilton, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is a great transportation option in Summit. It is especially convenient to find a place to park, and it is a very short drive to the closest highway, such as Highway 403, from any home in this area. The bike is a rather poor mode of transportation in Summit because the cycling network is not very comprehensive, and riding is rendered arduous by the typically sloping terrain. A majority of the homes for sale in this part of the city are located in areas that are also not very suitable for people who get around by foot as very few day-to-day needs can be met without a car.

Services

There are no high schools and no primary schools in this part of Hamilton. In terms of food, a vehicle is almost always needed in Summit to reach the closest supermarket.

Character

Home buyers who prefer a relaxed ambience will enjoy Summit. Summit is quiet overall, as the streets tend to be quite calm - although there are still several louder areas, especially close to Highway 403. Parks aren't well-spread out, making it rather challenging to reach them. Despite that, residents will be able to access parks in nearby neighbourhoods.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing roughly 70% of dwellings in Summit, and the remainder are mainly mobile homes. Roughly 30% of properties in this neighbourhood were built pre-1960, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1990s. This area is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 95% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas the rest are renters.
