Summit

The neighbourhood of Summit can be found in the city of Hamilton, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area.

Transportation

Travelling by car is very easy in Summit. It is very convenient to park, and the majority of real estate listings are a very short drive from the nearest highway, such as Highway 403. This neighbourhood is not very conducive to bicycling since there are very few bike lanes, and cyclists are faced with a significant amount of elevation changes. Summit is also not very suitable for walking as very few day-to-day needs can be met without having to use a vehicle.

Services

Summit does not contain any high schools or primary schools. When it comes to food, buying one's groceries very often requires the use of a car in this part of the city.

Character

Home buyers who prefer a calm ambience will enjoy Summit. Summit is quiet, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although there are still several noisier sections, especially around Highway 403. Parks aren't well-distributed, which makes it rather difficult to get to them. Despite that, residents will be able to access parks in nearby neighbourhoods.

Housing

Nearly 95% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 5% are occupied by renters. The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of this area is an important part of its character. Roughly 30% of homes in this neighbourhood were built prior to the 1960s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1990s. This part of Hamilton also has a good selection of housing size options - homes range from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
