Part of the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area, Book is a neighbourhood within Hamilton, Ontario.

Transportation

Driving is an excellent transportation option in this part of the city. Most properties for sale are a very short car ride from the nearest highway, and it is especially convenient to park. However, Book is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most homes. The bicycle is a rather limited mode of transportation in Book because there are very few bike lanes, and there are a fair number of hills for cyclists to brave. It is also inconvenient for people travelling on foot to navigate Book as very few common errands can be run without the use of a car.

Services

Primary schools are not very plentiful in Book, and accordingly not always within walking distance, and there are no high schools. In addition, it can be difficult to get to daycares as a pedestrian. With respect to eating, property owners in Book typically have to use a vehicle to reach the nearest supermarket. A small number of restaurants are available in this area.

Character

There is a wide variety of green spaces in Book. Although the neighbourhood does not contain any green spaces, parks are very well-situated in nearby neighbourhoods, making it easy to access them. Finally, since there are very few people out and about on the streets, this neighbourhood is relatively quiet.

Housing

In Book, the overwhelming majority of dwellings are single detached homes, and the remaining houses are mainly townhouses. This neighbourhood experienced its most significant building boom before the 1960s, so most of the available housing stock is from this era. This area offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Around two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and one third are renters.
