Downtown

The neighbourhood of Downtown Guelph can be found in the city of Guelph, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Guelph metropolitan area.

Transportation

Regardless of the means of transportation, it is fairly straightforward to travel in this area. Thanks to Guelph Central with access to the Kitchener, and approximately 10 nearby bus lines, the public transit service in Downtown is good. A majority of the homes for sale in this area are located in places that are also convenient for those who like to travel by foot; many day-to-day errands can be run without the need for a vehicle, and plenty of businesses are close at hand. Bicycling is convenient in Downtown.

Services

It is very easy to get to the nearest supermarket without a car from any location in Downtown. Additionally, a restaurant is commonly just around the corner, and property owners are served by a few cafes as well. As far as education is concerned, it is a short stroll to get to schools and daycares from any location in Downtown. At the elementary level, there are both public and private schools.

Character

People who prefer a calm ambience will enjoy Downtown. Public green spaces, like Silvercreek Park, are very well-situated and there are around 20 of them nearby for residents to check out, which makes them easy to get to. This part of the city is also fairly good for those who need a quiet atmosphere, as the streets are usually calm - however some areas can be quite loud, especially close to one of the railway lines.

Housing

In Downtown, about 45% of dwellings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings and small apartment buildings make up most of the remaining housing stock. This area has a good selection of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. The proportions of renters and homeowners are about even. Most of the housing growth in this part of Guelph happened pre-1960.
