Downtown

The neighbourhood of Downtown Cornwall is part of the city of Cornwall, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Cornwall metropolitan area.

Transportation

It is easy for people walking to move around in Downtown; carrying out daily needs is easy on foot. It is also convenient to get around by bike in this area as it is a flat ride to most destinations, and the bicycling infrastructure is well-developed. The car is often the favoured method to navigate Downtown. It is easy to park. On the other hand, this neighbourhood is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines, and most homes are very close to a bus stop.

Services

Some, but not all, house buyers in this part of the city will live within walking distance of the closest supermarket. Residents benefit from approximately 20 restaurants and coffee shops as well. With regards to education, parents and their children will value that no matter where their property is situated in Downtown, schools and daycares are close by.

Character

Downtown is a good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced atmosphere. The noise levels in this part of Cornwall are reasonably low, as the streets are generally quite peaceful. Lastly, it is easy to access public green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are a few of them nearby for residents to enjoy.

Housing

In Downtown, around one third of dwellings are single detached homes, whereas the rest are mainly large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and duplexes. A majority of the housing growth in this neighbourhood took place prior to the 1960s. This neighbourhood offers mainly one bedroom and two bedroom homes. Roughly two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood rent their home whereas the remainder are owners.
