La Salle

The neighbourhood of La Salle is part of the city of Burlington, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area.

Transportation

La Salle is especially car friendly. It is very convenient to find a parking spot, and many houses for sale are a short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Highway 403. In contrast, residents using public transit may have few choices in this part of the city by reason of the low service level. Nevertheless, there is the Aldershot with access to the Lakeshore West. Property owners are served by a few bus lines, and most houses are very close to a bus stop. Travelling by foot in this neighbourhood is not very popular, although carrying out daily needs is easy on foot. La Salle is also not especially conducive to cycling as the bicycling network is rather poor, and the topography is not particularly flat. Thankfully, some pleasant sectors for cycling exist.

Services

A portion of home buyers in La Salle may be able to purchase their groceries by walking, while others will have to turn to a vehicle. There are also a few opportunities for those who value nearby restaurants and cafes. As far as education is concerned, parents and their children will find that no matter where their property is situated in La Salle, daycares and primary schools are close by. In contrast, there are only a few high schools and consequently they can be an extended walk away. Families can choose between public and private elementary schools.

Character

La Salle is a good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced atmosphere. There are about 10 parks close by for residents to enjoy and they are very well-located, which makes it easy to access them. Most areas in this neighbourhood are quiet, as the streets are usually reasonably calm - however noise can be problematic around the railway line, Queen Elizabeth Way or Highway 403.

Housing

Around two thirds of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas the remainder are rented. In this part of the city, the majority of dwellings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings are the main alternative in the housing stock. Around one third of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed between 1960 and 1980, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 2000s. This neighbourhood offers mainly two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
