The community of Waverley is part of the municipality of Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

The best way to get around in this community is very often a car. Nearby highways are reasonably easy to reach from any home in this community, and it is very convenient to park. However, the public transit network in this area is not very practical. This part of Halifax is not very suitable for those who travel by foot because very few daily errands can be run without having to resort to a car. The bicycle is a fairly poor means of transportation in Waverley since there are few bike lanes, and cyclists encounter a significant amount of hills.

Services

It is a rather short walk to reach primary schools from any location in this community. On the other hand, there are no high schools in this part of the municipality. In terms of food, in all cases, a car is needed to do groceries.

Character

The character of Waverley is exemplified by its relaxed ambience. There are a few public green spaces close by for residents to check out, including Shubie Park and MacDonald Sports Park, making it easy to access them. The noise levels in this part of the municipality are also very low, as the streets are usually very calm.

Housing

About 85% of the properties in the community are occupied by homeowners whereas the remainder are rented. In this community, about 90% of dwellings are single detached homes, but duplexes are also present in the housing stock. Roughly one third of properties in this part of Halifax were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This community is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
