Located within the Greater Halifax metropolitan area, Prospect Bay is a community in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

Driving is usually the preferred way to move around in Prospect Bay. It is very easy to find a place to park. Walking is not very practical for residents in this area because running daily errands is very difficult without a vehicle. This part of Halifax is also not very amenable to biking since the cycling infrastructure is quite poor, and there are quite a few slopes.

Services

Primary schools are often a very long stroll away, and there are no high schools in this part of Halifax. As far as food is concerned, house buyers in Prospect Bay almost always have to rely on a car to access the closest supermarket.

Character

Prospect Bay offers a slower-paced environment. Prospect Bay is wonderful for those who like quiet surroundings, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Green spaces aren't well-distributed, resulting in them being rather difficult to access from the majority of locations within this community. Despite that, there are a few parks nearby for residents to check out.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing the overwhelming majority of buildings in Prospect Bay, and the remaining properties are mainly townhouses. This area offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy roughly 90% of the properties in the community and 10% are rented. Around 45% of homes in this area were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s.
