Located in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area, Bayside is a community within Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

Bayside is very car friendly. Parking is generally easy. This part of Halifax is not very amenable to biking as the bicycling infrastructure is not very comprehensive, and there are a fair number of elevation changes. It is also very difficult for pedestrians to move around in Bayside because many daily needs are almost impossible to carry out without a vehicle.

Services

There are no high schools and no primary schools in this community. With regards to food, property owners in this part of Halifax almost always have to turn to a vehicle to buy their groceries.

Character

The character of Bayside is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. Bayside is very quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Public green spaces are rather challenging to get to since they aren't well-situated. Despite that, there are a few parks nearby for residents to visit.

Housing

Roughly 90% of the dwellings in the community are occupied by homeowners while renters occupy the remainder. The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of this community is an important part of its character. Roughly 30% of properties in this part of the municipality were constructed pre-1960, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s.
