Oceanview

The neighbourhood of Oceanview is part of the municipality of Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is situated in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area.

Transportation

Cars are a great transportation option in this part of Halifax. It is a reasonably short drive to the closest highway from anywhere in Oceanview, and it is easy to park. On the other hand, public transit riders may find very limited choices in this neighbourhood as a result of the low service level. Biking is sometimes challenging in this part of the municipality since riding is made strenuous by the often hilly terrain, and Oceanview has fairly poor cycling infrastructure. Oceanview is also not especially well-suited for pedestrians because few daily errands can be run without needing to resort to a vehicle.

Services

Families will value that wherever their house is located in this neighbourhood, daycares and primary schools are close by. On the other hand, Oceanview does not contain any high schools. In terms of eating, home buyers in this neighbourhood will be pleased to learn that a grocery store is always only a rather short stroll away. Character

The character of Oceanview is exemplified by its slower-paced ambience. Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing around 30% of buildings in Oceanview, and the rest of the dwellings are mainly large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and townhouses. This part of Halifax is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Around two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and one third are renters. A majority of the housing growth in this area happened in the 1990s.
