The community of Eastern Passage can be found in the municipality of Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is located in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area.

Transportation

Eastern Passage is a very good part of Halifax for driving. Parking is generally easy. On the other hand, Eastern Passage is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, the community is linked by a few bus lines, and the closest bus stop is generally around the corner. Eastern Passage is not very suitable for those who like to get around by foot as very few common errands can be run without the use of a car. This area is also not very bike-friendly as cyclists encounter a significant amount of elevation changes, and the bicycling infrastructure is rather poor.

Services

Getting to the nearest supermarket by foot is practical for some, but not all, house buyers in Eastern Passage. There are also a limited number of opportunities for those who appreciate restaurants and cafes within a short distance. Concerning education, both primary and secondary schools are easy to get to as a pedestrian from most houses for sale in this area.

Character

Eastern Passage is a great community to buy a home in for those who prefer a slower-paced ambience. This area is especially quiet overall, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue. Lastly, many locations in the community have good access to parks, including Eastern Passage Education Centre and Smelt Brook Park, since there are around 10 of them nearby for residents to check out and reaching a park from the majority of homes for sale is very easy.

Housing

Over half of the housing stock of Eastern Passage consists of townhouses and single detached homes, while the rest are mainly townhouses. This part of the municipality also has a variety of unit sizes; although this part of Halifax is notable for those looking for three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about 85% of the dwellings in Eastern Passage and 15% are rented. The homes in this community are relatively new, because around one third of its dwellings were constructed after the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s.
