Head of Chezzetcook

Head of Chezzetcook is a community in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

Head of Chezzetcook is an extremely good part of Halifax for moving around by car. Many homes for sale are a reasonably short drive from the nearest highway, and it is very easy to access a parking spot. However, Head of Chezzetcook is not a very pleasant part of Halifax for travelling by public transit. Head of Chezzetcook is not very amenable to bicycling because there are a fair number of elevation changes, and there are very few bike lanes. Travelling on foot is also not very practical for residents in this part of the municipality because running common errands is inconvenient.

Services

It is very rarely an option for property owners in this community to buy groceries on foot. As far as education is concerned, there are no high schools and no primary schools in this part of Halifax. Likewise, daycares are not numerous and therefore tend to require a very long walk to get to.

Character

Most areas in Head of Chezzetcook are quiet, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic. Public green spaces aren't well-spread out, which makes them rather challenging to access. Still, there are a few parks close by for residents to visit.

Housing

Single detached homes and row houses are the predominant housing type in Head of Chezzetcook. Roughly one quarter of homes in this area were built after the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This part of the municipality also has quite a good variety of housing sizes - there is a higher proportion of three bedroom homes in this part of Halifax. Homeowners occupy about 85% of the dwellings in the community and 15% are rented.
