Blind Bay

The community of Blind Bay is part of the municipality of Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is located in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area.

Transportation

Blind Bay is especially car friendly. It is very convenient to park. This community is not very conducive to biking since there are a fair number of elevation changes to challenge cyclists, and the cycling infrastructure is quite bad. Many of the houses for sale in this part of Halifax are located in areas that are also not very well-suited for people who get around as pedestrians as most daily needs are nearly impossible to meet without a vehicle.

Services

It is very rarely practical for property owners in Blind Bay to access the closest supermarket by walking. Regarding education, this community does not contain any high schools or primary schools.

Character

People who prefer a slower-paced atmosphere will enjoy Blind Bay. Blind Bay is great for those who like quiet surroundings, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Parks aren't well-spread out, making them very hard to access from the majority of locations within the community.

Housing

The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of Blind Bay is an important part of its character. Around one third of homes in this area were constructed before the 1960s, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. This part of the municipality offers mainly two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy nearly 90% of the properties in the community and the remainder are rented.
