Islandview

Islandview is a community within Cape Breton Municipality, Nova Scotia, which is located in the Cape Breton metropolitan area.

Transportation

Islandview is particularly car friendly. It is very convenient to park. The bicycle is a quite bad mode of transportation in Islandview as there are very few bike lanes, and riding is rendered difficult by the typically steep terrain. A majority of the homes for sale in this community are located in areas that are also not very well-suited for people who prefer to travel as pedestrians since meeting day-to-day needs is practically impossible without a car.

Services

In all cases, a car is required to shop for groceries. When it comes to education, there are no high schools and no primary schools in this area. Additionally, parents may consider it very hard for their children to access daycares by foot.

Character

The character of Islandview is exemplified by its slower-paced atmosphere. Although the community is not home to any parks, green spaces are few and far between in nearby communities, making them very easy to get to. This area is also very quiet, as the streets tend to be very peaceful.

Housing

About 30% of properties in Islandview were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1980s and the 1990s. The predominant housing types in this part of the municipality are single detached homes and townhouses. Roughly 90% of the population of this community own their home whereas renters make up the remainder. This part of Cape Breton Municipality is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
