Kelsey Drive

Part of the Greater St. John's metropolitan area, Kelsey Drive is a neighbourhood within St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Transportation

This neighbourhood is an extremely good part of St. John's for driving. Many real estate listings are a short drive from the closest highway, and it is very easy to park. On the other hand, residents using public transit may have limited choices in this part of the city as a result of the infrequent service. Thankfully, house owners benefit from a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most properties. It is at times challenging for people walking to navigate this part of the city as many daily needs are sometimes difficult to meet by walking. Kelsey Drive is also not particularly appropriate for biking since there is a significant amount of slopes, and the cycling network is quite poor.

Services

A portion of house buyers in Kelsey Drive may be able to access the closest supermarket on foot, while others will need a vehicle. A small number of restaurants can be found in this area as well. In terms of education, this neighbourhood does not have any high schools or primary schools. Likewise, parents and their schoolchildren may consider it very hard to reach daycares on foot.

Character

Most areas in Kelsey Drive are quiet, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue.

Housing

Kelsey Drive experienced its biggest construction boom after the year 2000, so most of the available housing is from this era. Duplexes are the most common housing type, representing around 55% of buildings in this neighbourhood, and the remaining properties are mainly single detached homes. About 60% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 40% are rented. This area offers mainly two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
