Part of the Greater St. John's metropolitan area, Cowan Heights is a neighbourhood within St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Transportation

This neighbourhood is very car friendly. It is very easy to come across a place to park, and the majority of houses for sale are a short car ride from the nearest highway. On the other hand, the public transit system in this part of St. John's is fairly poor. Thankfully, there are approximately 10 bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far from most homes. Many of the homes for sale in this part of the city are located in places that are not particularly conducive to walking because few daily needs can be met without having to resort to a car. Cycling is also sometimes difficult in Cowan Heights as bike riders are faced with a significant amount of slopes, and the bicycling infrastructure is sometimes poor.

Services

Some, but not all, home buyers in Cowan Heights will reside within walking distance of the nearest grocery store. A small number of restaurants and coffee shops can be found as well. Regarding education, primary schools and daycares are convenient to reach on foot from most properties for sale in Cowan Heights. On the other hand, high schools are not very abundant and consequently not always within walking distance.
