Regent

Part of the Greater Winnipeg metropolitan area, Regent is a neighbourhood within Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Transportation

Regent is a fairly pleasant part of Winnipeg for pedestrians; many common errands can be run without needing to use a vehicle. In contrast, Regent is not particularly suited for cycling because the bicycling network is not especially well-developed. Thankfully, there are few hills to challenge bike riders. The public transit service in Regent is not particularly frequent. Thankfully, there are around 10 bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far away from most houses. However, driving is usually the best way to navigate Regent. Coming across a parking spot is quite easy, and most homes for sale are a very short car ride from the nearest highway.

Services

A supermarket is usually reachable within a reasonably short walk from any home in Regent. In addition, there is often a restaurant or cafe in close proximity. When it comes to education, families will find that wherever their property is situated in Regent, schools and daycares are nearby.

Character

Despite the somewhat busy feel, there are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Regent. There are a few green spaces close by for residents to check out, including Rotary Prairie Nature Park, and they are especially well-spread out, which makes them easy to access. This part of Winnipeg is relatively quiet, as there are few people out and about on the streets; however there can be more noise for those who are around the railway line.

Housing

Roughly two thirds of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while the remainder are rented. Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing about half of dwellings in this area, and the remaining houses are mainly small apartment buildings and townhouses. This area experienced its largest construction boom following the year 2000, so most of the available properties are from this time period. This part of the city is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
