Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach is a neighbourhood within West Vancouver, British Columbia, which is situated in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is an excellent medium of transportation in this area. It is very convenient to park, and nearby highways are very easy to access from any home in Sunset Beach. However, this part of West Vancouver is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and it is very easy to reach a nearby bus stop from most residences. Travelling on foot is not very practical for property owners in Sunset Beach as meeting day-to-day needs is very challenging by walking. The bicycle is a rather poor means of transportation in Sunset Beach because riding is rendered strenuous by the often hilly terrain, and there are very few bike lanes.

Services

There are no high schools and no primary schools in this neighbourhood. Concerning food, in all but a very small number of cases, a car is needed to purchase groceries.

Character

There is a great variety of green spaces in Sunset Beach. There are a few parks nearby for residents to explore and they are especially well-distributed, which makes it easy to access them. Finally, this part of West Vancouver is relatively quiet, since there are very few pedestrians.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing about 45% of dwellings in Sunset Beach, and the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings, duplexes, and townhouses. About 30% of homes in this neighbourhood were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about 70% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood whereas the remainder are rented.
