Cypress

Situated within the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, Cypress is a neighbourhood within West Vancouver, British Columbia.

Transportation

This area is very car friendly. It is very easy to park, and it is a rather short drive to the closest highway from any location in Cypress. In contrast, the public transit service in this part of the municipality is rather poor. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and it is especially convenient to find a nearby bus stop from most houses. Cypress is not very amenable to cycling as there are quite a few slopes, and the cycling infrastructure is not very well-developed. This neighbourhood is also not very convenient for walking as very few common errands can be run without having to use a vehicle.

Services

Parents and their kids will welcome that no matter where their house is located in this neighbourhood, daycares and primary schools are nearby. However, this area does not have any high schools. With respect to food, house buyers in this part of West Vancouver usually have to use a car to do their grocery shopping.

Character

Cypress is a fairly good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a calm environment. Parks are very well-located and there are a few of them close by for residents to explore, making them very easy to access. The noise levels in this area are also quite low, as the streets are generally tranquil.

Housing

In Cypress, almost all buildings are single detached homes, whereas the rest are mainly duplexes. This part of West Vancouver is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Nearly 90% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the rest are rented. Around one third of homes in this area were constructed pre-1960, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s.
