Uptown

Part of the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, Uptown is a neighbourhood within New Westminster, British Columbia.

Transportation

Uptown is a very good neighbourhood with regards to travelling without a car. Thanks to a few nearby bus lines, this area is quite transit friendly. Uptown is also an extraordinarily pleasant part of New Westminster for pedestrians; running common errands is convenient on foot, and plenty of businesses are close by. It is easy to commute by bike in Uptown since there are a good number of bike lanes.

Services

It is very easy to get to the closest grocery store on foot in this part of the city. In addition, Uptown is a fairly good place in which to go out to eat or go to a cafe, for example along Sixth Street. Concerning education, it is a very short walk to access daycares and schools from anywhere in this part of the city.

Character

People who prefer a slower-paced environment will enjoy Uptown. This part of the city is reasonably quiet overall, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic. Finally, green spaces are easy to reach since there are a few of them nearby for residents to discover.

Housing

In Uptown, about half of buildings are large apartment buildings, while small apartment buildings make up most of the remaining housing stock. This part of New Westminster is particularly good for those looking for one bedroom homes. Around two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood rent their home and one third are owners.
