Downtown New Westminster is a neighbourhood within New Westminster, British Columbia, which is located in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

Downtown will please homeowners that appreciate different means of transportation. Thanks to many nearby rapid transit stations with access to the Expo Line, and a few nearby bus lines, the very good public transit access makes transit a viable option for many people. Active house buyers will also value the very pedestrian-friendly nature of Downtown; most daily needs are easy to meet on foot, and various businesses are nearby. Moving around by bicycle is easy in this neighbourhood since there are a good number of bike lanes.

Services

Daycares and schools are very convenient to access on foot from most homes for sale in Downtown. Families benefit from public and private schools at both the elementary and high school level. When it comes to food, it is especially easy to get to the closest supermarket on foot from any home in this part of the city. In addition, Downtown is a good place in which to eat out or go to a cafe.

Character

Despite the somewhat busy feel, there are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Downtown. There are approximately 10 parks close by for residents to unwind in and they are especially well-spread out, making it easy to get to them. Lastly, a good portion of Downtown is quite quiet, although that is not the case around one of the railway lines.

This neighbourhood is primarily composed of one bedroom and two bedroom homes. There are equal parts renters and owners living in this neighbourhood. Roughly 45% of homes in this area were constructed following the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s.
