Transportation

Driving is an excellent mode of transportation in Pleasant Valley-Rutherford. Many real estate listings are a very short car ride from the nearest highway, and it is very convenient to park. In contrast, Pleasant Valley-Rutherford is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most houses. Pleasant Valley-Rutherford is not especially bicycling-friendly as there are quite a few elevation changes, and the cycling network is sometimes poor. Travelling on foot is also not especially practical for house buyers in this part of Nanaimo since few day-to-day errands can be run without the use of a car.

Services

Reaching the closest grocery store by walking is feasible for some, but not all, home buyers in this area. A limited variety of restaurants and coffee shops is available as well. With regards to education, primary schools and daycares are convenient to reach on foot from any location in this part of the city. In contrast, this area does not have any high schools.

This area is fairly good for those who like a quiet atmosphere, as the streets are usually tranquil - although that is not the case around the railway line. Finally, public green spaces, including Oliver Woods Park and Dunster Park, are very well-situated and there are about 30 of them close by for residents to enjoy, making them very easy to reach.

Housing

In Pleasant Valley-Rutherford, roughly half of dwellings are single detached homes, whereas the rest are mainly small apartment buildings and mobile homes.
