On the other hand, commuting by transit can be difficult in this area by reason of the infrequent service. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and most properties are very close to a bus stop. Dover is not especially bike-friendly as bicycle riders are faced with a considerable amount of elevation changes, and the cycling infrastructure is sometimes poor. This neighbourhood is very quiet overall, as the streets are usually very tranquil.

Housing

About three quarters of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the rest are rented. Single detached homes are the main housing type, representing about 55% of buildings in this part of Nanaimo, while small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock.
