Departure Bay is a neighbourhood within Nanaimo, British Columbia, which is situated in the Greater Nanaimo metropolitan area.

Transportation

Departure Bay is very car friendly. Parking is quite easy. However, the transit infrastructure in this part of the city is not very accessible. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far away from most homes. Walking is not particularly practical for house buyers in this area since running common errands is at times challenging without needing a car. Travelling by bicycle is also sometimes challenging in Departure Bay because there is a significant amount of hills, and the cycling network is not especially comprehensive.

Services

A portion of home buyers in Departure Bay may be able to travel to the nearest supermarket on foot, while others will have to use a vehicle. Residents benefit from approximately 10 restaurants and cafes as well. In terms of education, it is a short distance to access primary schools and daycares from any location in this neighbourhood. In contrast, there are no high schools in Departure Bay.
