Midtown

The neighbourhood of Midtown is part of the city of Kelowna, British Columbia, which is located in the Greater Kelowna metropolitan area.

Transportation

Walking is quite practical for home buyers in this neighbourhood; many daily needs can be met without the use of a vehicle, and plenty of businesses are reasonably nearby. Commuting by transit can be at times difficult in Midtown due to the low service level. Nevertheless, the neighbourhood is linked by about 10 bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is generally just around the corner. In contrast, driving is often the preferred means of transportation in Midtown. It is especially convenient to access a parking spot.

Services

Both general and specialty grocery stores are usually accessible within a short walk from any home in Midtown. Moreover, there are a fair number of opportunities for those who care about nearby restaurants and cafes. It is also a short distance to a very good choice of clothing stores. Regarding education, it is a reasonably short walk to reach daycares from most homes for sale in Midtown. On the other hand, this neighbourhood does not have any primary schools or high schools.

Character

Midtown offers a slower-paced environment and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. This area is fairly good for those who need a quiet atmosphere, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue. Finally, green spaces are very well-located and there are a few of them close by for residents to visit, making them very easy to reach.

Housing

In Midtown, about 55% of buildings are small apartment buildings, while large apartment buildings and townhouses make up most of the remaining housing stock. This part of Kelowna also has quite a good choice of unit sizes - there is a higher proportion of two bedroom homes in this neighbourhood. Around two thirds of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the remainder are rented. The buildings in this area are very new, because about half of its dwellings were built after the year 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1980s and the 1990s.
