My wife and I Highly Recommend Katie Phang and Doug Robinson (with Century21) based on our recent experience with them representing us as our real estate agent for the purchase of our new home (Closed Mar 10, 2024) and sale of our existing home (May 17, 2024). We have bought and sold homes in the past, so have experience with a few other real estate agents. As in the past, for our recent purchase of a new home, and sale of our existing home, we investigated/interviewed at least 10 real estate agents (and judging them on our criteria of Competence, Integrity, Commitment and Value Adding Proposition) before we finally appointed Katie and Doug to represent us. A Home is the biggest purchase or sale transaction we will ever make in our lives, and engaging the right partner is of utmost important to achieving our objectives. We did background searches on Katie & Doug based on the numerous transactions they have closed in the past, their experience in various real estate asset classes (and their track record in residential property like ours and the location we are selling and buying in), the extend they have achieved better than market at the time they closed past transactions at the time (whether from a buyer or a seller’s perspective), and consistent and nature of reviews from the number of clients they have represented. We then conducted a detailed interview of Katie and Doug with regards to their experience and background. Based on our interview and later our experience with them, they have proven to be very knowledgeable of the market and various segments & locations, their acute understanding of historical, current and prospective direction/development of the real estate market, their location driven intelligence of streets and location, their high engagement with local residents in subject areas we are interested in, their recommendation of our sales approach as well as refining our targets based on our needs, referred various contractors for our consideration based on our jointly decided upgrades and staging needed for the sale, their ability to create interest/traffic for our sale both on the ground & via social media, their ability to introduce properties in line with our chosen criteria as soon as the property is listed, and ability to arrange immediate visitation of relevant targets so that we were ahead of competition, their demonstrated experience in the entire process of a sale or purchase transaction including engaging various stake holders and participants in each transaction, and advising us of what is required by each of them. Katie & Doug also helped us by actively advising us on our engagement with contractors for effective required home upgrades (which many agents do not do), executed practical results driven staging, walked us through and advise us to all forms of legal documentation, supporting our dealings with lawyers, home inspectors, mortgage brokers, financial institutions and much more. Unlike other real estate agents, Katie and Doug are trust worthy partners who hand held us from start to finish, through each stage of the process. They are problem solvers with empathy & sensitivity to our needs, polite, courteous, attentive listeners, receptive, responds in precise and concise manner to questions (not long winded or off point), knowledgeable with the market/industry/process, efficient, hard-working, and effective. These qualities were demonstrated time and again, highlighted by shorter than the expected timelines to resolve each concern, problem or issue that arises through the process. Their performance was above & beyond normally standards, and their demonstrated capability and work ethic which is worth emulating as a Gold Standard by other real estate agents at Century21, at other firms and the industry. Trust that they will be properly recognized. I am sure more prospective clients will partner with them once people become aware of what we had experience with them. As a first time home-buyer I was very conscious about my lack of knowledge and experience. I was frequently overwhelmed. Katie and Doug were very patient, but I was still anxious about the process. They shared their knowledge and experience, always addressing all my concerns. Katie and Doug did an outstanding job of walking me through the buying process step by step.
