King George

Part of the Greater Saskatoon metropolitan area, King George is a neighbourhood within Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Transportation

King George is a fairly convenient part of Saskatoon for cyclists. More precisely, it is an even ride to most destinations, and the bicycling infrastructure is extensive. King George will also draw physically active home buyers as it is conducive to walking; meeting daily needs is easy by walking, and a fair number of businesses of different types can be found as well. King George is car friendly. Parking is quite easy, and the majority of homes for sale are a rather short drive from the closest highway. In contrast, this neighbourhood is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and the closest bus stop is usually very close.

Services

In King George, parents and their kids will typically be able to reach daycares and primary schools on foot. However, this part of the city does not have any high schools. With regards to eating, it is very convenient to reach the closest grocery store by walking in King George. Residents are served by a few restaurants and coffee shops as well.

Character

King George is a great neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a calm environment. Most areas in this part of Saskatoon are especially quiet, as the streets tend to be very peaceful. Finally, numerous locations within the neighbourhood have reasonably good access to parks, including Victoria, since there are a few of them nearby for residents to enjoy.

Housing

The substantial percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of King George is an important part of its character. This part of the city is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 70% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the remainder are rented. A majority of the housing growth in this part of Saskatoon took place prior to the 1960s.
