Downtown

Downtown Regina is a neighbourhood within Regina, Saskatchewan, which is located in the Greater Regina metropolitan area.

Transportation

Downtown will appeal to property owners that value different means of transportation. The fairly good public transit access allows people to get to many destinations without needing a vehicle as a result of approximately 10 nearby bus lines. Walking is also reasonably convenient for house buyers in Downtown; most daily needs are convenient to meet on foot, and various businesses are quite close by. Moving around by bicycle is convenient in Downtown since there are a fair number of bike lanes, and there are a limited number of hills to challenge cyclists.

Services

Families will welcome that no matter where their home is located in this neighbourhood, daycares and primary schools are nearby. However, Downtown does not have any high schools. With respect to eating, it is convenient to reach both a general and a specialty grocery store on foot from any home in Downtown. Furthermore, a restaurant is commonly just around the corner, and a small selection of cafes is available as well.

Character

There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Downtown, despite its sometimes busy atmosphere. Public green spaces are especially well-spread out and there are a few of them nearby for residents to relax in, which makes it very easy to reach them. This part of Regina is a good area for those who don't mind a bit of noise, as traffic can occasionally be loud during busier hours of the day, although there are still several quieter pockets.

Housing

Around one third of homes in Downtown were built between 1960 and 1980, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. In this area, the majority of dwellings are large apartment buildings, and the rest are mainly small apartment buildings. Renters occupy roughly 85% of the units in the neighbourhood while the remainder are occupied by owners. Notably, this area is good for those looking for one bedroom homes.
