On the other hand, the transit access in this borough is rather limited. Nonetheless, homeowners benefit from about 20 bus lines, and the closest bus stop is generally very close by. This part of Saguenay is not especially conducive to cycling because the topography is not especially flat, and the bicycling network is somewhat poor. A fraction of property owners in Jonquière may be able to access one of approximately 10 supermarkets as pedestrians, while others will have to rely on a vehicle. There are also a few opportunities for those who care about restaurants in close proximity. When it comes to education, primary schools and daycares are convenient to access without a car from anywhere in Jonquière. However, it can be difficult to get to high schools on foot.

Character

Jonquière offers a slower-paced environment. Jonquière is very good for those who need a quiet atmosphere, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic.

Housing

Around two thirds of the population of this borough own their home and one third are renters. In this borough, the majority of dwellings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings and duplexes make up most of the remaining housing stock. Roughly one third of properties in this part of Saguenay were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s.
