Transportation

Driving is a great mode of transportation in this area. Many houses for sale are a rather short car ride from the closest highway, such as Autoroute 20, and accessing a parking spot is easy. Most houses for sale in this neighbourhood are located in areas that are not very conducive to those who travel by foot since very few day-to-day errands can be run without having to resort to a vehicle. This part of Rimouski is also not especially appropriate for cycling because the bicycling infrastructure is rather limited, and the topography is not particularly flat.

When it comes to education, in this neighbourhood, families will commonly be able to reach daycares and primary schools on foot. In contrast, Pointe-au-Père does not have any high schools.

Character

Pointe-au-Père is quiet overall, as the streets tend to be reasonably peaceful - although that is not the case closer to Autoroute 20 or the railway line.

Housing

About 85% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while renters occupy the remainder. The large percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of this area is an important part of its character. About 45% of properties in this neighbourhood were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This part of the city is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
