The bicycle is a reasonably good method of transportation in this area as there are few hills to confront bicycle riders, and there are a fair number of bike lanes. Owing to Gare Chabanel with access to the 12 - Saint-Jérôme, and a few nearby bus lines, commuting by public transit is very convenient in Saint-Simon. Saint-Simon is also a fairly good part of Montréal for travelling by car. Many properties for sale are a very short drive from the nearest highway, such as Autoroute Métropolitaine.

Character

Saint-Simon offers a broad selection of green spaces to enjoy, as well as some areas with a vibrant ambience. To be more precise, parks are especially well-situated and there are a few of them close by for residents to explore, making them very easy to get to. Despite the abundance of public green spaces, the tree canopy coverage for a large number of streets is quite bad. Noise can sometimes be an issue in this neighbourhood, since during rush hour, traffic can occasionally be bothersome, although there are still several quieter sections.

Housing

In Saint-Simon, the overwhelming majority of dwellings are small apartment buildings, while large apartment buildings and duplexes are also present in the housing stock. This area is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about 80% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood and 20% are rented. The homes in this part of Montréal are very old, since almost all of its dwellings were constructed prior to the 1960s, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s.
