Transportation

Centre-Sud presents property owners with several alternative methods of transportation. The public transit service in Centre-Sud is great. For example, rapid transit stations, including Station Berri-UQAM 4, Papineau Station and Beaudry Station with access to the Ligne 2 - Orange, Ligne 1 - Verte and Ligne 4 - Jaune, are not very far away from the greater part of properties in the neighbourhood. There are approximately 30 bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and most residences are very close to a bus stop. This area is also especially conducive to those who travel by foot; running common errands is very easy on foot, and a fair number of businesses of different types can be found as well. Physically active people will enjoy the very bicycling-friendly character of this neighbourhood. For example, the cycling infrastructure is fairly good, bike-share stations are seldomly more than a short walk away, and the terrain is reasonably flat.

Services

It is a short walk to get to schools and daycares from anywhere in this area. At the secondary level, there are both public and private schools. When it comes to food, it is straightforward to access both a general and a specialty grocery store on foot from anywhere in Centre-Sud. Likewise, there are over 100 restaurants and approximately 10 cafes to experience in Centre-Sud.

Character

Centre-Sud is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the ambience of this part of Montréal. Centre-Sud is reasonably good for those who enjoy a quiet atmosphere, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic, although that is not the case near one of the railway lines or Autoroute Ville-Marie. Greenery is prominent in this area as the tree canopy coverage for a lot of streets is good. There are over 50 parks close by for residents to enjoy, including Parc des Faubourgs, and they are especially well-situated, which makes it very easy to access them from the majority of locations within the neighbourhood. Finally, there are a very large number of things to do in this area to explore. The streets are usually busy with people, a fairly good selection of entertainment venues can be found nearby, and with its about 30 bars, there are options for nighttime activities.

Housing

About three quarters of the population of this neighbourhood rent their home while the remainder are owners. Most buildings are small apartment buildings, making it easy to find apartments in this area, but large apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. Around 40% of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed pre-1960, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 2000s.
