Transportation

The best method to move around in L'Anse-à-l’Orme is very often driving. Parking is easy. However, the public transit system in L'Anse-à-l’Orme is fairly poor. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and most houses are close to a bus stop. It is easy to get around by bike in this area as there are not many elevation changes to confront cyclists. However, L'Anse-à-l’Orme is not very suitable for those who travel by foot because common amenities such as barbers or laundromats can be an extended walk away.

Services

High schools and primary schools are not particularly numerous in this neighbourhood, and consequently not always within walking distance. Moreover, families may find it very hard to get to daycares as a pedestrian. With respect to eating, it is very rarely practical for house buyers in this part of Montréal to travel to the nearest grocery store on foot.

Character

L'Anse-à-l’Orme is a very good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a calm ambience. There is a fair amount of greenery in this part of the city; there are a few parks nearby for residents to unwind in, such as Parc-Nature de l'Anse-à-l'Orme, which makes them very easy to reach. Residents will also find that the tree canopy coverage for most streets is good. This part of the city is also very quiet, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic closer to Autoroute Félix-Leclerc.

About half of properties in L'Anse-à-l’Orme were built after the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1980s and the 1990s. In this part of Montréal, roughly 60% of buildings are single detached homes, and the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings and townhouses.
