Lachine is a borough within Montréal, Quebec, which is located in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

Regardless of the means of transportation, it is convenient to move around in this part of Montréal. Lachine is quite transit friendly. In particular, house owners are served by the Ballantyne, Gare Lachine and Gare Du Canal with access to the 11 - Vaudreuil/Hudson, 15 - Mascouche and 14 - Candiac. The borough is connected by approximately 10 bus lines, and the closest bus stop is typically just around the corner. Lachine will also draw physically active house buyers because it is reasonably well-suited for those who travel by foot; many daily needs can be carried out without the use of a car. This area is conducive to bicycling since there are few elevation changes to challenge bike riders, and the bicycling network is quite comprehensive.

Services

Reaching one of approximately 10 grocery stores by walking is practical for some, but not all, property owners in this part of the city. A small number of restaurants and coffee shops can be found as well. Regarding education, it is a reasonably short walk to access schools and daycares from anywhere in Lachine. Parents have the choice between public and private high schools.

The character of Lachine is exemplified by its slower-paced ambience. There is a fair amount of greenery in this part of the city as there are many tree-lined streets. There are over 50 public green spaces close by for residents to explore, including Parc Lasalle and Parc Stoney Point, making them very easy to get to from the majority of locations in Lachine. This area is also quiet, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic - however noise can be bothersome around one of the railway lines, Autoroute de la Côte-de-Liesse or Autoroute Chomedey.
