Saint-Nicolas

The neighbourhood of Saint-Nicolas is part of the city of Lévis, Quebec, which is situated in the Greater Québec City metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is a great mode of transportation in Saint-Nicolas. It is very convenient to find a place to park, and the majority of real estate listings are a rather short car ride from the closest highway, such as Autoroute Robert-Cliche. On the other hand, commuting by public transit is very difficult in Saint-Nicolas. Nevertheless, the neighbourhood is served by around 30 bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most houses. Services

High schools and primary schools are not very plentiful in Saint-Nicolas, and thus not always within walking distance. Likewise, families may consider it challenging to get to daycares on foot. When it comes to food, in most, if not all, cases, a vehicle is required to do groceries. There are also a few choices for those who appreciate restaurants in close proximity.

Character

Saint-Nicolas is quiet, as the streets tend to be reasonably peaceful - however some areas can be quite loud, especially closer to the railway line, Autoroute Jean-Lesage or Autoroute Robert-Cliche. Green spaces are sparse, which makes them rather challenging to access. Still, there are around 20 parks nearby for residents to check out, including Parc de la Montagne and Parc des Chutes-de-la-Chaudière.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing about 70% of dwellings in Saint-Nicolas, while small apartment buildings make up most of the remaining housing stock. Around 30% of properties in this neighbourhood were built after the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. This part of Lévis offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Around 85% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home while renters make up the remainder.
