Terrebonne

The borough of Terrebonne can be found in the city of Terrebonne, Quebec, which is situated in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is an excellent mode of transportation in this borough. It is especially convenient to park, and nearby highways, such as Autoroute 640, are quite easy to access from any location in this area. However, the public transit network in Terrebonne is rather limited. Thankfully, there are approximately 40 bus lines traversing the borough, and most residences are very close to a bus stop. This area is not very conducive to those who travel by foot because very few common errands can be run without the use of a vehicle.

Services

Some, but not all, house buyers in this borough will reside within walking distance of one of about 10 supermarkets. Residents can enjoy over 100 restaurants and coffee shops as well. With respect to education, parents and their children will find that wherever their property is situated in Terrebonne, daycares and primary schools are nearby. However, high schools are not very abundant and accordingly may require an extended walk to get to.

Character

Terrebonne offers a slower-paced environment and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time in green spaces. This part of the city features not that much greenery; to be more precise, residents will find that the tree canopy coverage for numerous streets is sub-par. Nonetheless, accessing green spaces is easy in the borough, since there are over 50 of them close by for residents to visit and many homes have a park a short walk away. This area is also fairly good for those who enjoy quiet areas, as there are low levels of noise from traffic - although there are still several louder sections, especially near Autoroute 25, Autoroute 640 or the railway line.

Housing

About one third of properties in Terrebonne were constructed after the year 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. In this area, around 55% of dwellings are single detached homes, and the rest of the properties are mainly small apartment buildings. Homeowners occupy around three quarters of the units in Terrebonne while the remainder are rented. This borough offers mainly two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
