Verdun

Part of the Greater Montreal metropolitan area, Verdun is a borough within Montréal, Quebec.

Transportation

This borough provides home buyers with several alternative methods of transportation. Verdun features a fairly good public transit system as a result of a multitude of nearby rapid transit stations with access to the 1 | Ligne 1 - Verte and REM A | Gare Centrale - Brossard, and around 10 nearby bus lines. Most houses for sale in this area are located in places that are also reasonably convenient for those who travel by foot; running common errands is easy. Verdun is a fairly convenient part of Montréal for cyclists. For example, there are not many elevation changes to confront bicycle riders, and the cycling network is reasonably good.

Services

Primary schools and daycares are straightforward to walk to from anywhere in Verdun. However, there are only a limited number of high schools and consequently they can be a rather long walk away. Concerning food, a supermarket is typically reachable within a reasonably short walk from any location in Verdun. Additionally, those who like to dine in restaurants will have a good number of options, and home buyers benefit from a few cafes as well.

Character

Verdun offers a slower-paced environment and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. Greenery is quite prominent in this part of Montréal; there are over 50 public green spaces close by for residents to explore, like Parc Adrien-D.-Archambault and Parc de l'Honorable-George-O'Reilly, making it very easy to get to them. Furthermore, residents will find that there are many tree-lined streets. Most areas in this area are quiet, as the streets tend to be quite calm - however noise can be bothersome closer to Autoroute 15 or Autoroute des Cantons-de-l'Est.

Housing

Around two thirds of the population of this borough rent their home whereas owners make up the remainder. In this area, the majority of buildings are small apartment buildings, and the rest of the properties are mainly large apartment buildings and duplexes. This borough experienced its largest construction boom prior to the 1960s, so most of the available housing stock is from this time period. This borough offers mainly one bedroom and two bedroom homes.
