Duvernay is a neighbourhood within Laval, Quebec, which is situated in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

Cars are an excellent transportation option in this neighbourhood. Coming across a parking spot is generally easy, and it is a short car ride to the closest highway, such as Autoroute 25, from any home in this area. In contrast, the public transit network in Duvernay is sometimes poor. Nonetheless, property owners benefit from around 10 bus lines, and it is very easy to reach a nearby bus stop from most residences. Although certain enjoyable sectors for cycling exist, Duvernay is not especially cycling-friendly since there are a good number of hills, and the bicycling network is rather limited. It is also challenging for people walking to navigate this part of Laval because carrying out daily needs is sometimes difficult on foot.

Services

There are only a few high schools and primary schools in Duvernay and therefore they can be a long walk away. Additionally, families may find it difficult for their kids to get to daycares as a pedestrian. With respect to eating, some, but not all, house buyers in Duvernay will reside within walking distance of the closest supermarket. A limited variety of restaurants and coffee shops can be found as well.

Character

The character of Duvernay is exemplified by its relaxed atmosphere. Greenery is not particularly present in this area; to be more specific, residents will find that the tree canopy coverage for the majority of streets is below average. However, there are over 100 public green spaces nearby for residents to discover, making it easy to reach them. This part of Laval is also fairly good for those who need quiet surroundings, as the streets are calm - however some areas can be quite noisy, especially around Autoroute Laval Est, Autoroute 25 or the railway line.

In Duvernay, the majority of buildings are single detached homes, while the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings. This part of Laval is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 85% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 15% are renters.
