Transportation

Chomedey presents home buyers with the choice between a diversity of methods of transportation. Chomedey is conducive to people who prefer to travel on foot; running daily errands is easy without a car. This part of the city is also moderately cycling-friendly as there are not many slopes to challenge cyclists. The public transit access in Chomedey is fairly convenient. In particular, there are around 40 bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most houses. The favoured approach to get around in this part of the city is often a car. It is a rather short drive to the closest highway, such as Autoroute Laval Ouest, from anywhere in Chomedey, and it is convenient to come across a parking spot.

Services

Parents and their kids will appreciate that wherever their house is located in Chomedey, daycares and schools are nearby. Besides public schools, there are private elementary and secondary schools. With respect to eating, property owners in this part of the city will value that a grocery store is always only a short trip away. Boulevard Saint-Martin is among the best streets for groceries. Additionally, Chomedey is a good place in which to eat out, for example along Boulevard Curé-Labelle, and house buyers are served by around 20 cafes as well.

Character

Chomedey is a very good neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a relaxed atmosphere. Greenery is not particularly prominent in this area; to be more precise, residents will find that the tree canopy coverage for numerous streets is sub-par. However, accessing parks is easy in the neighbourhood since there are over 50 of them nearby for residents to discover. Most areas in this part of the city are very quiet, as the streets tend to be very peaceful - although that is not the case around Autoroute Chomedey, Autoroute des Laurentides or one of the railway lines.

Housing

Small apartment buildings are the predominant housing type, representing around 40% of dwellings in Chomedey, and the remainder are mainly large apartment buildings and single detached homes. Around 30% of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed following the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This part of Laval is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes. The split between renters and homeowners is about even.
