Transportation

Cartierville affords homeowners the choice between a diversity of modes of transportation. It is easy for people walking to navigate this neighbourhood; many day-to-day errands can be run without a car, and there are also a fair number of businesses in proximity. This part of the city is also rather amenable to biking as bicycling is made easier by the generally flat terrain. Commuting by public transit is convenient in Cartierville thanks to approximately 10 nearby bus lines. The best approach to get around in this neighbourhood is often a car. It is a reasonably short drive to the closest highway, such as Autoroute des Laurentides, from any location in Cartierville, and it is convenient to park.

Services

The nearest supermarket in Cartierville is typically only a reasonably short walk away. Additionally, this part of the city is a good place in which to eat out, and a small selection of coffee shops can be found as well. When it comes to education, schools and daycares are straightforward to access as a pedestrian from most homes for sale in this area. At the primary level, there are both public and private schools.

Character

The character of Cartierville is exemplified by its calm atmosphere. Greenery is present in this part of Montréal; there are around 10 public green spaces nearby for residents to explore, like Parc de Beauséjour and Parc de Louisbourg, and they are especially well-distributed, which makes it very easy to access them from the majority of locations in the neighbourhood. Moreover, residents will find that the tree canopy coverage for a large number of streets is fairly good. This neighbourhood is quiet overall, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic - although there are still several noisier sections, especially around the railway line, Autoroute des Laurentides or the airport (Héliport de Montréal (Sacré-Coeur)).

Housing

In Cartierville, most dwellings are small apartment buildings, while single detached homes are also present in the housing stock. Roughly one third of properties in this neighbourhood were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This area offers mainly two bedroom and one bedroom homes. Renters occupy about two thirds of the properties in the neighbourhood and owners occupy the remainder.
