Lakeshore

Lakeshore is a neighbourhood within Baie-D'Urfé, Quebec, which is located in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is very often the favoured method of transportation in Lakeshore. It is very easy to find a place to park, and it is a short car ride to the nearest highway, such as Autoroute du Souvenir, from anywhere in Lakeshore. In contrast, commuting by public transit is challenging in this part of the city. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most properties. Lakeshore is not very cycling-friendly because riding is rendered strenuous by the typically steep area, and the bicycling network is rather limited. It is also impractical for people travelling on foot to navigate Lakeshore since daily errands are inconvenient to run without the use of a car.

Services

Both primary and secondary schools are convenient to reach on foot from most properties for sale in Lakeshore. However, daycares are not especially plentiful and accordingly not always within walking distance. With regards to eating, the nearest supermarket in Lakeshore is typically only a rather short walk away. There are also a few opportunities for those who care about restaurants in close proximity.

Character

The character of Lakeshore is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. This area is reasonably quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although there are still several louder sections, especially close to Autoroute du Souvenir. Lastly, there is a fair amount of greenery in this neighbourhood as many tree-lined streets are present. There are around 20 green spaces close by for residents to enjoy and they are very well-spread out, making it easy to access them from numerous locations in Lakeshore.

Housing

Roughly 95% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 5% are rented. In this part of the city, almost all dwellings are single detached homes, but townhouses are also present in the housing stock. A majority of the housing growth in this area occurred pre-1960. Notably, this neighbourhood is good for those looking for four or more bedroom homes.
