Sherwood

Part of the Greater Charlottetown metropolitan area, Sherwood is a neighbourhood within Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

Transportation

Sherwood is an extraordinarily good part of Charlottetown for driving. Most real estate listings are a very short car ride from the nearest highway, and parking is generally easy. However, Sherwood is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, residents are served by a few bus lines, and the closest bus stop is typically just around the corner. The bike is a sometimes poor method of transportation in Sherwood because the topography is not especially flat, and the cycling infrastructure is somewhat poor. Sherwood is also not especially suitable for those who travel by foot because most daily needs are at times difficult to carry out without having to use a vehicle.

Services

Families will appreciate that no matter where their property is situated in this neighbourhood, daycares and schools are close by. As far as food is concerned, a supermarket is usually reachable within a rather short walk from anywhere in Sherwood. In addition, there are a fair number of options for those who care about nearby restaurants and cafes.

Character

Sherwood is wonderful for those who need quiet surroundings, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing many buildings in Sherwood, and the rest of the dwellings are mainly small apartment buildings. Around 45% of homes in this area were built between 1960 and 1980, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This part of Charlottetown also has a good choice of housing sizes - it is quite easy to find homes ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Homeowners occupy about 60% of the properties in Sherwood and 40% are rented.
