The neighbourhood of Syme is part of the city of Toronto, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

Regardless of the mode of transportation, it is moderately simple to move around in Syme. A majority of the houses for sale in this neighbourhood are located in places that are fairly well-suited for people who like to get around as pedestrians; many common errands can be run without a vehicle, and plenty of businesses are rather close by. The bicycle is a reasonably good means of transportation in Syme as the cycling infrastructure is rather extensive. Syme is very transit friendly. More specifically, property owners benefit from a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most houses. Driving is also a reasonably good means of transportation in this part of the city since parking isn't typically too challenging.

Services

A general and a specialty grocery store is always only a short walk away in Syme. In addition, this part of Toronto is a fairly good place in which to eat out or go to a cafe. Concerning education, in this neighbourhood, parents and their kids will usually be able to reach schools and daycares without a car.

Character

Syme is a good neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a calm environment. Greenery is reasonably present in this area as a large number of streets have fairly good tree coverage. There are about 10 parks close by for residents to unwind in, such as City Wide Open Space and Black Creek Site West, and they are very well-situated, making it very easy to reach them. The noise levels in this neighbourhood are also low, as the streets are usually reasonably tranquil.

Housing

Large apartment buildings are the predominant housing type, representing most dwellings in Syme, while small apartment buildings, single detached homes, and townhouses make up most of the remaining housing stock. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of one bedroom and two bedroom homes. Renters occupy about two thirds of the dwellings in the neighbourhood and the remainder are occupied by owners. Roughly 40% of homes in this part of the city were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960.
