Transportation

Don Mills offers house buyers the choice between various means of transportation. Owing to approximately 10 nearby bus lines, the public transit network in this part of Toronto is fairly good. Many of the houses for sale in this area are located in places that are also fairly conducive to people who like to travel by foot; running day-to-day errands is easy without a car. Don Mills is rather suited for cycling.

Services

A supermarket is ordinarily reachable within a short walk from any home in this area. Additionally, this neighbourhood is a fairly good place in which to go out to eat, and property owners benefit from around 10 cafes as well. As far as education is concerned, in this part of the city, families will typically be able to access schools and daycares as pedestrians. Apart from public schools, there are private elementary and high schools.

Character

The character of Don Mills is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. This neighbourhood is quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case around Highway 401, Don Valley Parkway or the railway line. Lastly, there is much greenery in this part of the city as the tree canopy coverage for most streets is very good. There are about 30 public green spaces close by for residents to check out, including Don Mills Middle School - Building Grounds and Donalda Club, and they are very well-spread out, which makes it very easy to reach them.

Housing

Roughly 60% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 40% are occupied by renters. In this neighbourhood, roughly one third of buildings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings and small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. About 45% of properties in this area were built pre-1960, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 2000s.
